Veronica Rosenthal, commander of the Cerulean Flux Brigade. She’s likely helping one of the new squires train in the knight’s training quarters. She’s probably the friendliest and easiest to like female character in the story.
She always wants to help Silas, tolerates Bardo and Randolf’s raunchy behavior, watches over Mia as she struggles with prejudice among the knights, and occasionally pushes Vladimir to let down his guard and talk about his troubles.
Silas holding his sentient sword tightly, bracing for battle!
The sword is tentatively named “Harbinger”, but it may change to something like Marcello or Marcellus; It all depends on some other story considerations.
An Incubus concept sketch from Discretional Valor. I’ll probably replace all of these with scans later, but we are moving to a new home this weekend, so that will have to wait until we unpack!
More vacation sketches!
Sketches of some of my original characters: Opal, Mia, and Vladimir.
Lanselot Tartaros, from Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together.
I really ought to work with pencils more often. I do so much computer work because I love drawing and painting in color (which is just so accessible with programs like PaintTool SAI), but nothing beats having the kind of line control you get from a mechanical pencil and paper.
Opal Sariel, a character from my original story, Discretional Valor.
I knew there was another set of these video game character concept sketches I had lying around! Here is the earlier batch I posted:

I really ought to revisit these guys… foraminifera-shaped robots, an extremely depressed and emo villain that’s a huge parody of Shinji from Evangelion, and a team of wacky characters piloting a mobile drilling rig in search of secrets buried underground!
And yes, smirking guy is a priest who fights with an over-sized thurible.
A sketch of Mia. Of all the major characters in DV, she probably has the greatest setbacks she must overcome throughout the story.
The prejudice she deals with as a cambion (a half-demon, half-human) forces her to grow very strong against those that look down upon her.
She finds friendship, and her life turns around for the best. Unfortunately, her new-found optimism will be tested by her own naïveté, and by unexpected tragedies.
I was practicing male anatomy, and this happened. I know its sometimes good to keep starting new poses and restrict yourself to a time limit per pose, but I have a bad habit of working one thing farther than necessary when practicing.
It ended up turning into Vladimir, from Discretional Valor. He could only be this confident in front of a mirror alone however - he’s kind of a wuss without his armor and helmet on in public.
In fact, he gets chastised for wearing his helmet too often.
A scanned and cleaned up sketch of Silas. He kind of looks like an idiot in this one… But he’s cheerful like this throughout much of the story.
More sketches that are lying around. Hopefully I’ll have some more time for art this coming weekend.
I’ve been busy with Borderlands 2, Chinese classes, and a lot of family stuff lately, but here’s a rough sketch of Mia that’s been sitting around for a while. I should have some bigger projects to show later, but I’ll try to through in a sketch once and a while in the meantime.
I just HAD to draw some kind of western dude this time. I think I must have been listening to one of the Wild ARMS soundtracks earlier… also Mia with a wonky hand.
